Accessibility Statement

BarnDoorz is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, or keyboard-only navigation.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities.

What we have done

In October 2026 an independent accessibility firm tested barndoorz.com by hand with screen readers (NVDA with Chrome on Windows and VoiceOver with Safari on iPhone) against WCAG 2.2 AA. We have made changes to address the issues they reported, and an independent retest is pending. We also continue to test the site ourselves. Improvements so far include:

  • A visible keyboard focus indicator on links, buttons, and form fields, and a "skip to main content" link in our site header
  • Menus, Quick Shop, the mini cart, and search that can be opened, used, and closed with the keyboard, including the Escape key, with focus returned to where you were; our Quick Shop, cart, and product pop-ups keep keyboard focus inside while they are open
  • Product options, sizes, and the size guide that can be chosen and read by keyboard and screen reader, from the product page and from Quick Shop
  • Carousels and the before-and-after slider that can be operated by keyboard, with fewer redundant keyboard stops
  • Screen-reader announcements for search results, cart changes, and form and checkout error messages
  • Improved color contrast for text, buttons, form borders, and placeholder text, including text placed over photos and video
  • Form fields with clear labels and the right autofill settings for name, email, phone, and address
  • Our own videos now play from our site with closed captions, a description track that can be read aloud, and a text transcript
  • Clearer heading structure on pages and in pop-ups
  • Keyboard and screen-reader improvements to the "See it in your home" door preview tool

Known limitations

Some parts of the site come from third parties, and we have limited control over how accessible they are. We will update this page as things improve. These currently include:

  • The checkout, which our ecommerce platform hosts. We have improved its colors, borders, and error announcements, but some of its structure is controlled by the platform.
  • Email sign-up pop-ups and the live chat window
  • Videos by other creators that we link to on Instagram and YouTube. We cannot add captions to these, so we link to them by name instead of playing them on our site.
