Welcome to GlassCraft's How to Install video for BarnCraft.
Description: Title: The BarnCraft Collection, Barn Door Installation Video. A bedroom with an open walk-in closet.
This video will show you the quick and easy steps to install a single BarnCraft barn door. Today we will be installing a 42-inch-wide single barn door with the double Z design.
Description: A stained knotty alder barn door with a double Z brace leans against the wall. Labels: 42 inch wide, Double Z.
Please read and understand all instructions and warnings before beginning to install any GlassCraft product. Before installing your barn door make sure you have all necessary tools.
Description: Animated text: Before installing your barn door, gather the necessary tools.
Description: The tools appear one at a time on a drop cloth as they are named.
You will need a drop cloth, a hammer, a stud finder, tape measure, electric drill, a ratchet socket set, number 10, 3-inch screws, utility knife, a 6-foot level and screwdrivers. Open and inspect your hardware and confirm you have the correct parts for your installation. Every installation is going to be different and you may need to use different size bolts or anchors to install your rolling barn door hardware.
Description: The hardware kit is laid out on a wood floor with labels: rail, door guide, lag bolts, anti-jump stops, Allen wrench, stoppers, handles, rollers and stand-off brackets.
Description: The installer, a man in a blue shirt, reads the folded installation manual.
Each hardware kit comes with an instruction guide. Please follow the instructions and make sure you fully understand the steps for installing the hardware. Now that you have everything you need to install your door, it's time to measure your door opening. You will need to measure the width of the opening, the width of the door casing, and the height of the opening. Make sure your floor is level. The height of the track should be based off the lowest floor level and may require the door to be trimmed.
Description: He kneels and checks the floor with a level.
Next, we will work on the header. For this application, we are replacing the top piece of door trim with a larger header board to mount the hardware track. Start by making a horizontal cut on the top portion of the trim. Detach the cut trim from the wall with a hammer or pry bar. This is a matter of preference. The header may be installed above the trim and will require different door dimensions. To make sure your header board will be securely fastened, use the stud finder to locate the studs within your wall.
Description: He marks each stud location on the wall with a pencil, using the stud finder.
Once you have located the studs, you will then drill holes into your header based on the location of the studs. Place the header onto the wall and make sure the header is level. We suggest you use assistance in holding the header onto the wall. When the header is leveled, secure the header to the wall using the number 10, 3-inch screws. Place the rail onto the header. Level the track at the correct height.
Description: On-screen note: Remember to mark the center of rail location based on your door height and hardware selected. Follow the provided instructions to determine the correct height and mark the location of the pre-drilled holes.
Drill pilot holes for the installation bolts at the marked locations. Place one of the stand-off brackets between the rail and the header. Secure the rail to the header using the lag bolts provided. Repeat for all bolt locations until the rail is securely mounted on the header.
Description: He fits the end stopper onto the rail.
Take the stoppers and place them on both ends of the track. Tighten them down with the provided Allen wrench. It's now time to install the rollers onto your barn door. Drill the holes after marking the location of the roller bolt holes on the door. Place the bolts through the door and roller hardware and attach the decorative acorn nut. Please make sure all bolts are securely tightened. Failure to do this could prevent the rolling door from opening correctly and or disable the anti-jump feature of this hardware.
Place the door onto the rail. Two people should be used to lift and place the door onto the rail. When the door is installed onto the rail. You will then need to install the anti-jump stops to the top of the door.
Description: Two men lift the door and hang its rollers on the rail.
Mark the location of the floor door guide and secure it to the floor with the provided screw.
Description: On-screen note: The floor door guide should always remain under the door in the closed and open positions and while the door is operating.
Install the stopper at the closed and open positions of the door. Tighten the set screws with the provided Allen wrench to prevent the door rolling past the locations. Install the handle onto the door. Screw in each screw tightly with a screwdriver.
Description: The installer slides the finished door open and closed across the closet opening.
Now your door is fully installed. It's time to admire your work.

Houdini Hardware™ Installation Video
Video, 5 min 45 s. Captions: use the CC button in the player. Audio description and a full text version are below.
Text version with descriptions: Houdini Hardware Installation Video
[instrumental music]
Description: GlassCraft Door Company logo.
Description: Disclaimer screen. The Houdini Hardware kit should not be altered in any fashion. It should only be used for its intended purpose. Its weight capacity should not exceed 80 kilograms, or 176 pounds. It should be installed as instructed in the booklet. The screws and anchors included with the kit may not be suitable for all installation applications.
Description: A man in a red shirt slides a dark grey plank barn door with a long pull handle. The door hangs on Houdini Hardware, which is hidden behind the door, so no rail shows above it.
Welcome to the GlassCraft how to install video for our brand new Houdini hardware. Before you begin, please make sure to read the instructions thoroughly and gather all the necessary tools and parts required for the installation. Let's determine the required door size for a standard installation. We recommend that the width of the door is 8 inches or greater than the width of the wall opening.
Description: Tools screen: safety glasses, tape measure, drill, drill bits, level, hack saw, Phillips screwdriver, pencil.
Description: Parts screen: top track, right and left soft-close dampers, track screws, wall mount, wall mount screws, bottom track, bottom wheels, top and bottom track end caps, hard stops, floor guide and screws.
Description: An empty doorway in a grey wall. Red lines and arrows show the opening width and height being measured.
To determine the door height, measure from the top of the wall opening down to the floor and add 1 inch. If there is casing on the top of the wall opening, measure from the top of the casing down to the floor and add 1 inch. Step 1. Installing the top track.
Description: Diagram: Determine the size to cut the top track. Note: you do not need to cut the top track if your door slab is already 36 or 48 inches. Width of door slab minus 3/16 inch for both end caps equals the cut size.
The top track must be the same width as the door. Doors that are 36 inch or 48 inches in width do not require cutting at the track. If cutting is required, measure the width of the door, then subtract 3/16 of an inch to accommodate the thickness of both end caps. This is your cut size. Afterwards, position the top track on the back side of the door. First, make sure the top track with both end caps attached is the same width as your door.
After measuring, be sure to remove both end caps. Pre-drill holes as indicated in the instructions and attach the track using the provided screws.
Description: Captions on screen name each step as it is done: pre-drill holes, attach the track, install soft-close damper, slide hard stop, snap end caps, tighten screws.
Install the soft close damper by sliding it into place. Now for the hard stop. Before installing, be sure to loosen the screws of the hard stop to allow easier installation. Once the end caps are secured, slide the hard stop and soft close damper flush with the end caps. Tighten the screws on both the hard stop and soft close damper to secure in place. To confirm all top track components are positioned correctly, simply place the wall mount into the channel.
Step 2. Installing the bottom track.
Description: Captions: install bottom track, position bottom track, attach screws, flush, insert bottom wheels, snap end caps, tighten screws.
Doors that are 36 or 48 inches in width do not require cutting of the track. If cutting is needed for custom-sized doors, measure the width of the door, then subtract 3/16 of an inch to accommodate the thickness of both end caps. Afterwards, attach the bottom track to the bottom of the door. The track should be flush with the front side of the door. Insert the bottom wheels and remember to loosen the screws on them to make installation easier.
Once the wheels are in place, snap on the end caps. Slide the bottom wheels over until they touch the bottom track end caps. Secure the wheel assembly by tightening the screws.
Description: Captions: attach wall mount, mark wall mount height.
Step 3. Attaching the wall mount. To determine the height of the wall mount, stand the door up against the wall. Once in position, use a pencil to draw a line at the top of the track to indicate the top of the wall mount. Remember to hold the pencil at an angle, not flat. Next, you'll need to determine the horizontal location of the wall mount.
Description: Diagram, fully open: the wall mount sits 1 inch from the pencil line, and the edge of the door is flush with the edge of the wall opening. Partially open: the door stops farther away from the edge of the wall opening.
For standard installations, position the wall mount exactly one inch away from the edge of the wall opening. This location allows for the door to fully open. If you prefer the door to partially open, position the wall mount further in. Then mark the screw positions, pre-drill the holes, remove any tape or erase pencil marks, and secure the wall anchors.
Description: Captions: mark screw position, pre-drill holes, secure wall anchors, attach wall mount.
Finally, attach the wall mount. Step 4. Attach the door floor guide. To determine the horizontal location, line up the center of the door floor guide with the center of the wall mount. Next, we'll need to determine the distance from the wall. The easiest method is to simply attach the door.
Description: Side-view diagram: top of wall to top of door slab is 1 and 9/16 inches; bottom of door slab is flush; the floor guide center is the pencil line, at a set distance from the wall.
If the wall and door are plumb, mark the center of the installed wheel assembly. This is the center mark of the door floor guide. With these two measurements, you are now ready to install. Drill the floor guide pre-holes into the ground, double-checking your measurements before drilling.
Description: Painter's tape protects the floor while the floor guide holes are drilled.
Clean the area and holes, insert the floor guide anchors and attach the floor guide securely.
Description: Captions: install door, lift door slab, place on wall mount rollers. A diagram shows the top track resting on the wall mount and the floor guide centered under the door.
Step 5. Now that you've installed the top track, bottom track, wall mount, and floor guide, it's time to install the door. Stand up the door with all hardware secure in place. The center of the door should be centered to the location of the wall mount. Lift the door slab about one inch over the door floor guide. Place the top track channel on top of the rollers of the wall mount. Then, slowly lower the door onto the floor guide.
Description: Captions: slowly lower the door. The door now slides smoothly along the wall.
Once the slab operates smoothly, Engage the anti-jump bars at the top of the wall mount by rotating them 90 degrees to extend over the top track, secure with a screwdriver.
Description: Captions: engage anti-jump bars, adjust adjustment screw.
This step is critical to ensure the safe operation of the door. If the floor happens to be uneven, use the adjustment screw on the side of the wall mount to compensate. By turning it clockwise, the roller wheel assembly on the wall mount can be raised up to a quarter of an inch. This adjustment can accommodate most uneven floor conditions. And there you have it! Your Houdini Hardware is now successfully installed. Thank you for choosing GlassCraft.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please refer to the installation manual or contact our customer support. Enjoy your Houdini Hardware!

Please follow the instructions and make sure you fully understand the steps for installing the hardware.
Description: A hand holds the folded installation manual.
Now that you have everything you need to install your door, it's time to measure your door opening. You will need to measure the width of the opening, the width of the door casing, and the height of the opening. Make sure your floor is level. The height of the track should be based off the lowest floor level and may require the door to be trimmed. Next we will work on the header.
Once you have located the studs, you will then drill holes into your header based on the location of the studs. When the header is leveled, secure the header to the wall using the number 10, 3-inch screws.
Place the rail onto the header. Level the track at the correct height. Drill pilot holes for the installation bolts at the marked locations. Place one of the stand-off brackets between the rail and the header. Secure the rail to the header using the lag bolts provided. Repeat for all bolt locations until the rail is securely mounted on the header. Take the stoppers and place them on both ends of the track. Tighten them down with the provided Allen wrench.
Drill the holes after marking the locations on the roller bolt holes on each door. Place the bolts through the door and roller hardware and attach the decorative acorn nut. Please make sure all the bolts are securely tightened. Failure to do this could prevent the rolling door from operating correctly and or disable the anti-jump feature of this hardware.
Description: Two men lift each door and hang its rollers on the rail.
Place the doors onto the rail. Two people should be used to lift and place each door onto the rail. When the doors are installed onto the rail, you will then need to install the anti-jump stops to the top portion of the doors. Mark the location of the floor door guide and secure it to the floor with the provided screw. Install the stoppers at the closed and open positions of the doors.
Description: On-screen note: The floor door guide should always remain under the door in the closed and open positions and while the door is operating.
Tighten the set screws with the provided Allen wrench to prevent the doors from rolling past the locations. Install the handles onto your doors. Screw in each screw tightly with a screwdriver. Now your double door is fully installed. It's time to admire your work.
Description: The installer checks the two closed doors, now hanging side by side on the rail with black pull handles in the middle.

It's time to measure your door opening. You will need to measure the width of the opening and the height of the opening. Make sure your floor is level. The height of the track should be based off the lowest floor level and may require the door to be trimmed.
Description: A dark stained header board is already mounted on the wall above the opening.
We will start by placing the first rail onto the header. Make sure the rail is level onto the header and mark the locations for the pilot holes. Drill pilot holes for the installation bolts at the marked locations. Place one of the stand-off brackets between the rail and the header. Secure the rail to the header using the lag bolts provided. Repeat for all bolt locations until the rail is securely mounted on the header. For the second rail, take the bracket sets and place them above the stand-off brackets on the first rail.
Drill the pilot holes for the second rail installation at the marked locations. Place bolts into the holes and bracket sets. Securely tighten the bolts with the ratchet at all bolt locations. Now it's time to place the second rail onto the bracket sets you just installed. Line up the holes on the second rail with the holes on the bracket sets. Make sure the rail is level. Install the stand-off brackets in between the rail and the bracket sets.
Secure the rail to the bracket sets using the lag bolts. Tighten down with the ratchet. Repeat for all bolt locations until the second rail is securely mounted. It's now time to install the rollers onto your doors. Drill holes into the top of the door after marking the locations for the screws to the roller. Take the provided nails for the rollers and drill them into the holes. Failure to do this could prevent the rolling door from operating correctly and or disable the anti-jump feature of this hardware.
You will then need to install the anti-jump stops to the top portion of the doors. Starting with the first rail, place two of the doors onto the rail. Once they are securely on, then place the last two doors onto the second rail. Two people should be used to lift and place each door onto the rail. Mark the locations of the floor door guides and secure them to the floor with the drill. Install the stoppers at the closed and open positions of the door. Tighten the set screws with the provided Allen wrench to prevent the doors from rolling past the locations.
Install the handles onto your doors. Secure each screw tightly with a screwdriver. Now your quadruple bypass door is fully installed. It's time to admire your work.
Description: All four doors slide past each other on the two rails, opening and closing the closet.
