Sliding Barn Doors and Barn Door Hardware

@makingmycasita (Laura Alviso): Behold, the barn door glow-up that I didn’t know I needed. These old barn doors were giving haunted shed with all the mistakes that I originally made. This makeover, I went ahead and decided that we’re going to take these off and we’re going to work with barn doors, and I’m going to go with a Craftsman style in Tricorn Black. Surprise, surprise, we’re keeping the black, but come on, it’s so good. I also decided to keep the old hardware, so we are just going to line everything up and drill the holes so I don’t have to do extra guesswork. Absolutely pure perfection. These barn doors are sliding better than your ex’s DMs. I also added these great pulls onto the doors, which is super easy installation. @bowens.builds (Isabel Bowen): When we moved in, our guest bathroom had three doors, all opening into each other. It was chaotic, cluttered, and honestly stressful, and I don’t even get ready in here. So we decided to remove the pass-through door between the guest bedroom and bathroom and replace it with a frosted glass barn door. It’ll keep the space feeling bright and open while still giving full privacy. Installing it was super doable. First, we located our wall studs, which were spaced really weirdly, so to make sure the door was super secure, we drilled new holes in the metal track rod to make sure that we hit every stud exactly. Once the track was up, we attached the rollers, lifted the door onto the rail, and added soft-close dampers on both ends so that the door wouldn’t slam open or shut, which should be especially helpful for our guests who are unfamiliar with the door. After a few tweaks to level everything, we installed the floor guides, and now no more traffic jams and way less stress every time we walk by. And can I say, it’s pretty gorgeous. I love it. Also a 10 out of 10 on the shipping. This thing had spray foam in it, and if one transition wasn’t enough, let me give you two. This door is so impressive. I will tell you it was a little bit heavy, but the quality is amazing. It is so well built, and guys, all you have to do is these two little pieces of hardware, that’s all you have to do to install it. I installed this thing by myself in less than 30 minutes. It is six screws that go in here. Here’s the very best part. It is called Houdini Hardware. So you can see it’s the one bracket. It also has a very small roller on the floor. It’s hidden behind the door so you can’t see it. The best part about this company is you get to customize absolutely everything that you want. So I got to pick the style, the finishes, the hardware, the glass, everything. And you guys can see you absolutely cannot see any hardware or any roller on this door. I love that it’s not a traditional barn door with the big long roller bar. But let me tell you, it’s called Houdini because it’s like magic.
