Specifications and Sizing

The Z Barn Door has wood planks made from solid western red knotty alder, an attractive species with subtle patterning and a moderately straight grain. Solid planks run top to bottom, revealing delicate graining in two different looks: Barn Wood Knotty Alder and Rustic Knotty Alder. For attractive knots and whorls around the grain, choose the Rustic Knotty Alder. For straight graining with a beautiful weathered texture, choose the Barn Wood Knotty Alder.

We use 3/4-inch planks for the door and 1-inch planks for the cross rails that make the distinctive "Z" pattern. Each door has our Z pattern on the front side only, with the back side featuring solid vertical planking.

The Z Barn Door comes in a variety of widths, from 24 inches—perhaps for a narrow hall closet or larder—to 60 inches—a generous size that brings instant charm to any room, like a master bedroom overlooking a butterfly rose garden.
